
The National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) Electric Vehicle Safety Training project is providing firefighters and first responders with the information and materials necessary to respond to emergency situations involving electric vehicles. The training will help first responders identify electric vehicles and respond to common hazards. The project is being funded by a $4.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Online curriculum, identical in content to the classroom training, will be available late in 2011.
Online Training for the Chevrolet Volt
NFPA, Chevrolet, and OnStar have launched the Electric Vehicle Safety Training for the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, an extended-range electric vehicle. The training features an inside look at the vehicle's technology and safety systems.
